HDR Story — Support

HDR Story turns your HDR photos into short HDR videos that keep their highlights when posted as Instagram Stories.

How it works

  1. Open an HDR photo in the Photos app, tap Share and choose HDR Story — or pick photos inside the app.
  2. Choose the duration and tap Create. The app renders a short HDR video (HLG, Dolby Vision) on your device.
  3. Save the video to Photos or send it straight to Instagram Stories.

Frequently asked

The story looks the same as a regular photo. Make sure the source is an HDR photo (Ultra HDR JPEG or an iPhone photo with a gain map). Standard photos have no extra highlights to show.

Instagram did not open. Instagram must be installed. If the clip was saved to Photos instead, post it from the Instagram app: it keeps the HDR.

Nothing leaves your phone. Photos and videos are processed on the device. See the privacy policy.
